State Street Exhibit
The State Street Gallery at Robert Morris College recently opened a double exhibit that will be on display through March 15. Kevin Veara and Anjali Kacha are the featured artists.
Kevin Veara is best known for his tattooing artistry at Black Moon Tattoos in Springfield, Illinois. However, his paintings are a statement of his concern for the degradation of the environment and the effect of the shrinking habitat of some of nature’s most beautiful creatures. Kevin’s colorful and beautifully detailed paintings are reminiscent of scientific illustrations of birds and exotic plants. Some are based on nature, some on fantasy. Kevin had an exhibit of his work at the RMC Gallery in Springfield in December.
Anjali Kacha is an artist-in residence at Robert Morris College. She recently completed her Bachelor of Applied Science in Graphic Arts at RMC. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago. Her exhibit, “kootoomb” – which means “family,” is a collection of black and white and color digital photographs that focus on the concept of family. “Kootomb is a phonetic English transliteration of the word for family in Gujarati, the language we speak at home,” Anjali explained. “Working through the medium of digital photography, I explore the delicate connections between various family members, both with myself, and each other through multiple generations.”
